Postmortem


With the game finished i can look back at where we succeed and failed. Certainty some aspects turned out better than we hoped and others not so much. 

Things that went well: 


  • Fully functional game, no bugs 
  • Large map with meaningful space(clues to be found, items to be used)
  • Coherent story with (hopefully) a satisfying payoff, in the multiple endings 
  • Soundtrack was implemented 
  • Game assets look vibrant and interesting 

Things that were a bit shit:


  • Movement is a bit clunky and can keys can stick 
  • Coding standard was woeful 
  • build had compile warnings 
  • poor code design, hard to read 

Overall I think with polish and a bit more time, the game could be fun and tell an interesting story, however the poor code holds it back and the fact that players have little information on the multiple endings means the replay value is not as high as we anticipated.
